Who else just wants the holidays over with?
December 21st, 2006So I blew off two dudes trying to pitch me for money on my way to the El stop.
I get inside the station and realize just how dead I am
to the holidays in general.
Working retail doesn’t help any - especially when, like me, you work in a place
that sells academically restricted versions of normally commonly available things.
I had an alumni literally try to stare me down when I told her I wasn’t able
to sell her the software she wanted (the vendor doesn’t allow alumni to purchase).
Don’t get me wrong - most of my customers are perfectly amenable,
some are incredibly cool, but it’s the Pareto principle again -
I tend to remember the 20% that are really annoying.
Which doesn’t exactly help with the holiday thing -
if I didn’t have a nativity scene on my table instead of a big garish tree,
i’d have gone over the deep end a long time ago.
That being said, I’m so far gone that even the Christmas novelty tunes
“Twisted Christmas†(Bob Rivers Comedy Corp)
“Kevs Christmas†(Kevin Bloody Wilson)
do anything for me anymore.
I just want this holiday to be over with -
