Franklin Mills money saving ATM tip

without comments

For any of you wanting to go to Franklin Mills,

here’s a tip to save on transaction fees at the mall -

(the ATM’s in the mall have a $2.00 surcharge - kinda steep)

Go to either the Wal-Mart or the Super Fresh across the way from the mall

buy a Pepsi, or a candy bar, or any other sub $2.00 item,

go to the self-checkout lane (it’s usually faster),

pay with your debit card, then select (x$) cash back.

hope it helps….

Drink n’ Crunch - coolest food invention ever!

with one comment

Drink n' Crunch Product Shot

but what are Drink n’ Crunches?

It’s cereal (my fave is the Special K vanilla) in a foil covered plastic container
with a built-in lid and mini sippy cup thing which attaches to
a cup that you fill with milk (in my case, skim milk) to a predetermined line.

You then peel the foil back, which uncovers both the cereal and the sippy cup thing…
just tilt it back like you’re drinking from a cup and the cereal and milk meet in your mouth!

no more soggy cereal - there’s no time for the cereal to get soggy…..

one less AdSense user…

without comments

I finally got pissed off enough to dump AdSense ads from the blog…

Not only was the CTR for crap, they had to use javascript ,
which stalls my sidebar’s load, even when placed at the END of the code.

I’m testing out a few other networks, so I’ll let you know what works…

BTW, if you’re reading this on my feed - I changed the site’s theme….

new overlords, site snafus, and lots o’ transfers….

without comments

helluva valentine’s day….

got to work only to scramble around remerching and doing enough transfers
to last 3-4 days… I was wondering to myself whether some high end visitor
was coming…

later I found out that the person who was kinda sorta something approximating
the VP of Business Services wound up becoming the honest-to-God VP of Business Services,
so my suspicion was somewhat proved…

more site snafus - some of which led me to redesign the hierarchy of pages
so that the site will weather season-to-season changes much more smoothly….
but not after having my Sidekick blow up with emails….

oh, yeah… this was supposed to be some kind of love/flower/chocolate fest today?

I am so not feeeling it……

playing catch-up…

without comments

I’ve been really busy getting the mereBreath website up and running, so I haven’t had time to post here.

The season’s getting off to a good start - great first rehearsal.

Kind of nuts @ work, though….
apparently the auditors went through our transactions and found things they really didn’t like,
so they they let our managers know, and they let us know (you know how that goes).

On top of that, we’re getting ready for inventory this weekend…

I think we’re suffering from the Paradox of Excellence:

The basic idea is the better you do your job, the more invisible you become to everything - but bad news. The longer you do a good job, the more your perceived value erodes because customers lose sight of the pain you originally relieved.

Festivus (poles) for the rest of us

without comments

Festivus poles for sale:
Mark Frauenfelder:

In a classic episode of Seinfeld, the character played by the inimitable Jerry Stiller declared the establishment of a new holiday to replace Christmas. It was called Festivus and the centerpiece was a bare aluminum pole. Now a company is selling the poles.

FestivusAccording to Frank Costanza, the Festivus celebration includes three major components:

The Festivus Pole

The tradition begins with a bare aluminum pole, which Frank praises for its “very high strength-to-weight ratio.” During Festivus, an unadorned aluminum pole is displayed, apparently in opposition to the commercialization of highly decorated Christmas trees, and because the holiday’s creator, Frank Costanza, “find[s] tinsel distracting.” Local customs vary and you may be able to decorate your pole with non-threatening plain decorations, or ordinary green garland.

The Airing of Grievances

At the Festivus dinner, each participant tells friends and family all of the instances where they disappointed him or her that year.

The Feats of Strength

The head of the family tests his or her strength against one participant of the head’s choosing. Festivus is not considered over until the head of the family has been pinned to the ground. A participant is allowed to decline to attempt to pin the head of the family only if they have something better to do instead.

Amazon.com-Canon Photo Printer $39.99 Shipped

without comments

Amazon.com-Canon Photo Printer $39.99 Shipped:
Why bother waiting for lab results when you can print images just as good-or maybe better-at home? The Canon PIXMA iP1600’s 1,472-nozzle print head is capable of delivering superfine 2-picoliter ink droplets from two separate ink cartridges. You’ll have fantastic prints delivered into your hands just minutes after you snapped the shot.

Color resolution is as high as 4,800 x 1,200 dpi, with black resolution up to 600 x 600 dpi. Print speeds range up to 19 ppm for monochrome and 16 ppm in color; a borderless 4-by-6-inch photo takes as little as 70 seconds. Canon’s improved ink technology supplies rich black text that offers exceptional resistance to smudges; it even holds up to highlighter pens. Rather than limiting yourself to just standard photo-sized paper, the iP1600 can handle sizes ranging from credit card to legal-even envelopes-in a wide variety of weights and finishes. (All reported speeds are maximums. Actual speeds will vary.)
