Psalm 77 – Emily Update

Emily Updates

We have been very encouraged by several different things
this week, and have heard some good reports from the nurses caring for her.

While we obviously wish that things would happen faster
we are daily reminded of God’s presence and grace.

Her new cardiologist stopped by her room Wednesday evening
to tell us that based on her last echo
Emily’s heart is completely healed.

In his words her current condition is “a miracle.”

It has been an incredible experience to see God show
again and again that He can do more than any human doctor can,
and we rest in the knowledge that the God that redeemed Emily’s soul
can if he chooses also heal her physical body.

We are constantly mindful of the words of Psalm 77,
“You are the God who performs miracles…”
and we pray that there are many more to be performed in Emily’s life.

Every time a nurse or a doctor comes into Emily’s room
and we are there one of the first things they comment on
is the amazing support Emily has had since her arrival.

We as a family can’t thank everyone enough for the prayers,
messages, cards, gifts, and visits – -
and the staff can’t get over how much Emily is loved.

And on our end it has been a great privilege to meet
many wonderful nurses, doctors and therapists
who are fully committed to helping Emily.

In closing I just want to note that while my parents have asked me
to handle all of the updates on this site
they do read all of the messages and are always touched
and encouraged to hear of your concern for Emily and our family.

We don’t respond to them unless there is a direct question
but we do read them so thank you to everyone who has posted!

Emily update – 07/01 – rehab?

without comments

July 01, 2008 at 09:29 PM EDT
Tonight at 7pm marked 3 weeks since the accident on June 10th. Emily remains stable but is still unconscious. My parents, Jody and I were excited to see her yawning for the first time today. There is also still some very slight movement of the head and her eyes are wide open most of the time that we visit with her.

My parents have begun to meet with representatives from two rehab facilities and are hoping to reach a decision within the next week about where to take Emily. Please pray that they would have wisdom in this decision.

We continue to pray for her full recovery. Tonight my parents read Romans 15:13 and found it extremely comforting during this time of transition (we move tomorrow) and waiting for Emily. They would like me to share it with all of you and thank you for the overwhelming support you have shown to our entire family.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him and may you overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13

Please continue to pray and hope with us that Emily will be restored.
