I’m Dana Ward in the studio today. Rebecca Black has bigger things to worry about than wondering which seat to take in her friend’s car. According to Rolling Stone, Beck’s mom Giorgina Kelly is accusing Ark Music Factory, the people who produced the song and video, of copyright infringement. She says they owe her YouTube sensation of a daughter the master recordings of the song and video. Kelly also claims Ark has been exploiting her likeness on YouTube, iTunes, and Ark’s website without permission, and have falsely claimed she is exclusively signed to Ark. Basically Rebecca and her parents want all the rights to “Friday,” and want Ark Music Factory to be a thing in their distant past. But the Ark people want a chunk of the change she’s making because, let’s face it, without them, there would never have been a “Friday” in the first place—besides the day of the week.
