Leopard launch and NFF shot to hell….

with one comment

day started bad - late to work and breakfast a la Wawa -
dealing with a laptop situation that didn’t end as well
as the customer thought it might.

Leopard (Mac OS 10.5) launch was insane,
with lines winding through the aisles for the latest release.

No More Fast Food Diet, day 2

without comments

I don’t know.

today was the second day of the No More Fast Food diet -
Lean Cuisine and a soup or sandwich for lunch
instead of Taco Bell, pizza joints, nachos, and Mickey D’s.

My BG’s been under 200 for 2 days straight,
which is a good thing.

The right ankle’s acting up again -
it really gets aggravated when I sit for a long time.

I need to sleep now.

back to work..

without comments

it was a nice week off, but now I must return to work.

visited the doctor today - my A1C came back as 9.7 -
I pretty much have to not eat fast food at all,
which will make lunch interesting.

Stocked up on Lean Cuisine, chicken breasts, bran flakes,
yogurt, wheat bread, and whole wheat tortillas.

My next appointment’s in January,
so I need to have the A1C down to @ 8,
which will be interesting given the holidays.

I’ll see how things go at work,
but now I need to sleep.

Best. Steak. Nachos. Ever. - Lucky’s Mexican Spot

without comments

Was down on South Street tonight and ate at Lucky’s Mexican Spot .(CitySearch review)

Good Lord, was that some awesome Steak Nachos -
Guacamole, Sour Cream, Pico, and Lettuce over freshly made chips
topped with fresh grilled steak - yum!

I don’t what the hell the Yelp reviewer was thinking -
I mean, F ragging on the decor and the snide “it’s not really authentic” barb
take your foodie arse back to LaLupe, STFU ,
and let a brother get his mexican cooked mexican grub on :)

Where to report unsafe products….

without comments

We’ve all heard of toys with lead paint from China,
but what if you find a truly dangerous product?

How could you make sure to get the message out quickly?

Try using the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s Consumer Product Incident Report :

By filling out the form below and then submitting it, you can report any injury or death involving consumer products to us,
or report an unsafe product to us. We may contact you by mail, phone or Internet email for further details.

In addition, you will be contacted to confirm the information you sent. Please provide as much information as possible.
Your name, address, and telephone number are optional, but we can’t contact you without that information.

You can also report an incident or unsafe product by calling toll-free at 1-800-638-2772 or by sending an e-mail to info@cpsc.gov

AGAIN, CPSC does not have jurisdiction over automobiles, trucks and motorcycles, car seats protecting children in on-road vehicles,
foods, medicines, cosmetics, and medical devices, or dissatisfaction with business practices
(links to the proper agencies can be found on the “Report Unsafe Products” page)

Solaire Anywhere Portable Infrared Grill

without comments

From Cool Tools:

The Solaire Anywhere Portable Infrared Grill is a full-sized, no-compromises top-quality grill wrapped up in a super-portable package — it even comes with its own carrying bag, and — a very nice touch — has flip locks that hold the lid closed when stowed. This grill is small in size but not cooking power, putting out 14,000 BTUs, or nearly twice what is typical for portable grills. The secret is that instead of conventional burners, it uses a ceramic infrared grid that heats in seconds (less than three minutes), cooks in a flash, and cools down fast (pack away in about 15 minutes) with no coals to dispose of. It uses 1-lb. propane bottles or a 20-lb. tank with optional adaptor, and can also be converted to use natural gas.

set-ups, salisbury steak and self-abuse - noodle post n+2

with one comment

Today was slightly busier,

as the huddled masses yearning to break spring have returned…

Came in on time, as as has been the case for the last few days .
one of the part-timers got jumped on the dance floor of some club the previous night-
apparently a girl dragged him to the dance floor,
and then quite conveniently ditched him to face some guy telling him to lay off his girl,
and then shoving him - he pushes this guy to the wall, punches get thrown

and then 2 of Mr. “lay off my girl”’s friends kick him when he’s down -

the 3 miscreants are then quickly shown the door…

Had lunch at Philly Diner -

Salisbury Steak with corn, mashed potatoes, and cream of broccoli soup -

quite filling, and for not much more than I pay for fast food.

Returning from said repast, I thought I’d use the facilities in the Bookstore

before returning to work - but such was not to be…

as there was, firmly ensconced in the Jr. Executive stall,

an avid practitioner of One-Handed Literary pursuits,

engaged in semi-audible onanistic glee.

I went over to a nearby Hotel’s restrooms -

as they are plentious and well-appointed -

and there remedied my initial concern.

A quick way to get a cold can of whatever…

without comments

Interesting answer from Adam Savage from MythBusters

How long in the freezer to chill a Coke from 89F to 35F? - Adam from MythBustersAds :

That would be about 20-25 minutes in a freezer.

If you put it in a bucket of ice, that would halve that time.

If you put water in that ice, it’d be cold (+- 5c) enough to drink in about 4-6 minutes,

if you put salt in that water, you’d reduce the chill time to just over 2 minutes.

Agitating the can in the water, rolling it around, reduces the chill time even more.

The fastest possible way is to grab a CO2 fire extinguisher and unload that sucker on the can.

Whatever you do, do NOT bury the can in sand, pour gasoline on the sand and set the sand on fire.

That won’t do anything.

This is all empirically gained evidence, not third party.
