NYE, pt II - the service….

December 31st, 2005

made it through the day with
a minimum of troubles.
got to church early, so I
walked around Center City,
down Spruce to 21st, down to Pine,
then a stop @ where Kimberly Ernst
was found, and to take a look @ 2118 Pine -
the place where so many post-service
NYE parties and memorable dances,
most of them slow…..

returned to 10th in time to start
the NYE testimony service
lots of great testimonies,
especially Jennifer’s testimony

11:04pm
I’m now in the sanctuary, typing away
guess I don’t do social events very well,
at least it seems to be so for now….

made a list of things to be thankful for -
church and salvation came 6th and 7th,
Mom, work, and mB came 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

forgot what came in 4th and 5th.

for some reason, a T-Bone Burnett lyric
comes to mind;

are we supposed to take all this greed and fear and hatred
seriously?
it’s like watching dust settle -
it never changes, it’s too consistent.
mercy, however, is not consistent -
it’s like the wind, it blows where it will
mercy is comic - and it’s the only thing worth taking
seriously
.

well, it’s 11:20pm - time to start examining
myself for the communion service.

more L8R…

service, testimony, Pine, mercy, consistent
