SEPTA increases Transpass price, decreases coverage
It looks like SEPTA is messing with my business yet again -
they’re shutting down the last really good deal they offer on the Regional Rail system,
all the while charging me more for the privilege of getting less.
Let me explain….
Here’s what you can do with a Transpass on the Regional Rails now:
from SEPTA’s current Transpass page
Customers may use a TransPass for unlimited travel on the Airport Line (R1) Regional Rail; and to stations located within the City Of Philadelphia during off-peak hours, weekends, and major holidays.
Now look at the new proposed tariff:

TransPasses on Regional Rail will only be valid for travel between Center City Zone Stations, except on weekends and holidays when they have “Anywhere” status
Now I wouldn’t mind so much if they weren’t also doing this: link to SEPTA transpass fare hike
Weekly TransPass
$ 20.75 (current) | $ 22.00 (proposed)Monthly TransPass
$ 78.00 (current) | $ 83.00 (proposed)
Less coverage, more money, and still no smart card system
