what’s been happening since my last post…
I don’t have my T-Mobile G1 anymore,
thanks to a thief who grabbed it right out of my hands
while I was waiting for a bus Sat. Feb 28th @10PM.
What’s worse is that I strained my right hamstring (and vastus lateralis?)
while trying to chase said thief and recover the G1,
screaming for someone to stop him
(which no one did, of course – this is Philly, the IJDGAF capital of the world)
Why? Because when I bought it, I forgot to insure it.
I also learned that well-meaning people tend to ask you
really stupid questions when you’re out of breath,
grimacing in pain and grabbing your leg.
Or worse yet, begin to tell me what I should have done.
Someone finally got a police officer, who took my report
and got me an ambulance to Frankford Hospital’s ER.
Got evaluated, got Rx for pain pills and a set of crutches
and used them to make my way back to the Terminal.
Got there @ midnight, still haven’t called home
or to T-mobile to report the phone stolen.
After being snaked out of 2 cabs by more able-bodied folk,
I finally got on the 20 bus home, which got me there about 2 AM.
I came in, told Mom about it all, which leads to more well-meaning
yet obvious questions / redundant advice, which I didn’t take well.
Missed services @ Bethel the next day
(also reported the phone stolen and activated a replacement SIM)
Missed work the next week.
Which brings me to today – one more day until I return to work.
I’ll be looking forward to it – I don’t do prolonged infirmity well.
at all.
