Christmas program, late nights and ushering…
December 9th, 2007went to work Saturday knowing that I had to do the
impromptu mereBreath Christmas program that night.
after an uneventful day at work, I hurried off to
prepare to perform. It was a 2-3 paragraph monologue
with some other material added. I was the Wise Guy,
which I did in more or less of an Alton Brown-ish fashion
(i.e. humor in the service of actually useful content)
while wearing a particularly festive light lavender tunic,
matching drawstring pants, and a royal blue headscarf.
The show was well recieved, Bryan was pleased.
I joined Bryan, Judy, Will and Lisa at Good Dog for drinks and edibles
(I had the pulled pork sandwich with apple slaw and sweet potato fries).
This capped a frustrating restaurant search starting with:
Fox & Hound - too crowded
The Restaurant formerly known as Copa - too lite fare
McGlinchey’s - only hot dogs.
The waitress at McGlinchey’s suggested Good Dog,
so we left for there (just up the block).
I told Lisa that we might want to get into Good Dog
before the others find out about the Applebee’s across the way
she replied, approvingly, that that statement was very much a city person type statement.
(or something like that - it’s 2:30 AM right now).
After dinner, I parted company with the crew and headed home -
caught the last El out of 15th, thought about gettting a cab,
but then got on the 66 bus to Frankford and Knights,
then walked home from there (@ 1 mile).
It’s 2:50 AM now - I have to usher @ the 11:15 service.
Crap.
