more Mice Templar rave reviews!

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

This one is from Hugh Casey’s blog:

If the following issues fulfill the promise of the first
(and knowing the creators, I’ve no doubt they will), then Glass and Oeming have created
one of the finest stories to appear in comics in a long, long time.

This issue alone is on par with Jeff Smith’s BONE in quality and scope.
A fine high-fantasy tale, told with mice.

Ah, yes… the mice.

These are not cute little fuzzy Disney-mice, and this isn’t “Redwall”.
This story does for mice what “The Secret Of NIHM” did for rats,
and what “Watership Down” did for rabbits.

This is a tale of love, and loyalty, and myth, and savagery, and death.
This is an epic, in the best sense of the word,
and has the potential of being worthy of Alan Moore or Neil Gaiman.
And I cannot WAIT until the next issue!

Go to your comic store NOW, and pick up this book!
It is well worth it!

ripped pants and a new book

Wednesday, August 8th, 2007

well, I guess the most embarrassing one comes first -
ripped my pants on the way into work today -
it started out small, then elevated to the point of needing
an emergency packing tape job to get me through the day,
and then home to cast them into the dustbin of infamy.

Found this book during lunch, whilst shopping The Last Word:

“The Art of Possibility: Transforming Professional and Personal Life” (Rosamund Stone Zander, Benjamin Zander)

It promises to be a good read - the single (almost throwaway) quote about artists being employed to bring emotional truth to established principles was worth the price alone.
