The Pirates in my head (who don’t do anything)

Sunday, July 9th, 2006

This song has been running in my head -

don’t know exactly why

Relient K - The Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything

Relient K - Veggie Tales: Veggie Rocks!

here’s the chorus:

we are the pirates who don’t do anything

we just stay at home, and lie around

and if you ask us, to do anything

we’ll just tell you, we don’t do anything

The redemption of a Backstreet Boy…..

Sunday, June 11th, 2006

Apparently, Brian Littrell, one of the Backstreet Boys, is now doing Christian Music…

Christian Music Fan » Brian Littrell

Yep, the former Backstreet Boy is now firmly entrenched in the Christian music scene.
Probably the biggest hit he’s had thus far would be “In Christ Alone”:

the end of Edifice ….

Monday, June 5th, 2006

the final performance of Edifice has come and gone -
no more hanging on elevator walls
for @ 90 minutes per performance -
my back and legs will thank me.

It’s odd to see it end, but the last performance
was interesting in multiple ways:

  • the church at which we performed was
    a renovated Masonic Lodge.

  • the audience was really involved.
  • I got flowers.

The flowers were a total surprise -
had no idea that they were coming.

We struck and loaded the set in record time (1:16)

The post-performance dinner was excellent,
and we bade our fond farewells.

And now I’m here, typing this in the blog

Music from places you never knew existed.

Monday, May 29th, 2006

I’ve been ’scrobblering for about a year now, and the idea behind what used to be AudioScrobbler and is now Last.fm always interested me. A website that tracks your play counts via a small plug-in for your media player of choice and does all the back-end math to offer up pretty little charts on a weekly basis? Sign me up!

In addition to telling me that I’ve listened to 662 Beatles tracks in the past year and a bit, I found out today that one of the Last.fm staff members (RJ) has been playing around with country submissions. In his own words:

“I just started to experiement with some IP->country lookups, based on the MaxMind GeoIP database. I hope to make the country charts on last.fm use this data soon, which will give us many more profiles to build the charts from.”

He goes on to list data from almost every country on the planet. (If Last.fm has a user there, it’s on the list!)

Check out the list for country-based music player goodness.

Someone call Anniemal control…..

Wednesday, May 10th, 2006

was shopping at Franklin Mills this Monday,
where the video screens drove me to this declaration:

as God as my witness, I never want to hear
and/or see the video for Chewing Gum by Annie
(no, not the curly redhead - the vapid whiny voiced euro J-Pop blonde)again.
Ever.

not content to objectify boys lyrically, she objectifies girls with the video footage -
(I’m reminded of the scene in
Purple Rain where Morris Day tells
the members of Appolonia 6 that he needs to see some “asses wigglin’”)

as for the lyrics, I say -
chew gum while you may - ‘cuz age and gravity are a bitch….

bitter? moi?
