a sunday of flat tires and general lite aggravation
November 19th, 2007Had the 9:30 service this morning -
was a baptism service with a message on gratitude
(which you’ll probably find here)
Gratitude continued at the Old Country Buffet,
where I indulged in scrambled egg, bacon and beef sausage goodness.
Mom was engaging in a quest for a certain set of bells
that she saw in a dollar store somewhere that had the
line from It’s a Wonderful Life about angels getting their
wings whenever a bell rings. This brought us back to Franklin Mills.
On our way in, she caught the right front tire on a curb,
which eventually resulted in the tire having almost come off the rim.
A somewhat annoying set of disagreements occurred, where I once again
realized that my mother, once she arrives at a conclusion,
cannot be dissuaded by any power short of the Almighty.
Since I don’t drive, and thus could not possibly know
how to change a tire, we put in a phone call to my brother-in-law,
who came over and helped remove the flat and install the spare.
We then went over to the gas station and inflated the spare
to a decent air pressure level and then went home.
I guess I should be grateful for having a spare, having the help,
and for the situation resolving itself as it did, yet I still have
a generally light level of aggravation about the whole thing.
tire, spare, bell, gratitude, help
