today I got an email that got me thinking about grief…
especially the whole thing where you’re convinced nobody
knows what you’re going through, and someone who has good intentions
says that they do….
the only thing worse than that are the people who try to explain everything,
as if they want you going from zero to over it in 5 seconds…
Warren Zevon put it best:
I don’t need your pity
or your fifty dollar words -
I don’t share your need
to discuss the absurd…
and, of course, telling someone that they
“shouldn’t be grieving”, especially if followed by
one or more Scripture verses,
is grounds, IMHO, for justifiable homicide…..

Grief is a personal process to be sure. And in this case, it feels good to know I’m not the only person who was left with questions after the death.
I certainly never want to be left alone with my own thoughts when I have to do this again. Being alone while grieving is what leads to late-night infomercials. I swear.
