neverlocal, or being where you’re from….

Friday, August 25th, 2006

it seems easy enough - to be where you’re from….

but I never seem to be - I’m always from somewhere else, even when I’m home.

It’s just easier to be from the outside - less is expected of you

like you automatically get cool points for not being a local….

after a while though, being a neverlocal can wear one thin…

Random Walkabout - Vacation redefined

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006

Vacations never seem to be vacations for me -

there’s always a list of things to be done and

a seemingly never ending list of to do items….

From 2Weeks2aBreakthrough:

You know that your vacation was not a vacation—

you did not leave your daily life behind—

when you need another vacation when you get home.

she introduces the concept of the random walkabout:

I like thinking about vacations through the lens of random walk

because it forces me to see possibility in a different manner.

Instead of planning and comprehending the entire experience at once,

a random walk experience would be reinvented—with some limitations—each day.
