post service stuff…

Sunday, December 25th, 2005

just about Christmas day…
still haven’t wrapped Mom’s presents -
not feeling this holiday as much as previously

did a post service meal which reminded me
what I couldn’t stand about post-City-Light
outings: indecisiveness.

I’m even less tolerant of indecisiveness
than I was during my City Light days…

We finally wound up at Wok,
a really good chinese restaurant on Walnut st.
I had chicken w/broccoli - the broccoli was
just firm enough, the chicken tasted great,
and the sauce went well with everything,
even the white rice, which absorbed the sauce
to make an excellent end to great meal.
about $12-13 for my meal, sans tip and tax.

I’m on the bus home now - then to
wrapping presents and getting some rest.

Christmas Eve service…….

I’m @ 10th for the chiristmas eve service -
took the downstairs option (again).
Guess I’ll just catch the service,
then just head home.
(mid-service)
as always, the “amens” and baby’s cries
break through the ceremony’s seriousness
as if to tell us not to take it all TOO seriously.
children just cry out -
we learn later to hold our tongues,
but are little different in will or mind -
were we truly honest about it.
held out ’til before the 4th anthem
before engaging in in a much needed
yet understated emotional release.

(post service)
I’m still sitting in the basement
staring at a large TV, now with no signal -
just white noise….
time to wrap it up
and see whom I can see on the way out.
