DIY iPod Nano Case

without comments

Nano Tubes not doing it for you?
Check out this DIY Nano case…..

From Lifehacker

Loyal reader Bradley Nelson sends us this link to a do-it-yourself Nano case. It’s a PDF document that you download, print and assemble. Cut on the solid lines, fold on the dotted ones. It works best when you use it as a template for other material, such as fabric or (as Bradley suggests) the packaging from Eclipse Gum

here is wisdom - the “global microbrand”

without comments

Quite interesting - nice work if you can get it - good insights,
yet I’m concerned about those who really can’t run the shop mostly online….

gapingvoid: the global microbrand rant

I was talking to a friend on the phone about this yesterday.

“There’s only two ways to deal with life in the big city,” he says. “Alcohol and high prices. Surrounding yourself with luxury items, trendy, overpriced restaurants and obscene rent, tall leggy blondes who don’t give a damn abiut you, just to act as a buffer between you and the abyss.”

“Which you pay a lot for,” I say.

“Which you pay a hell of a lot for,” he says.

It seems to me a lot of people of my generation are locked into this high-priced corporate, urban treadmill. Sure, they get paid a lot, but their overheads are also off the scale. The minute they stop tapdancing as fast as they can is the minute they are crushed under the wheels of commerce.

You know what? It’s not sustainable.

However, the Global Microbrand is sustainable. With it you are not beholden to one boss, one company, one customer, one local economy or even one industry. Your brand develops relationships in enough different places to where your permanent address becomes almost irrelavant.

Poor Katie Holmes…

without comments

gendergeek:Can you say “bacterial growth medium”?
From the car-crash that Katie Holmes’ life has become, emerges a new horror. Apparently, Scientology suggests to adherents an unlovely practice called ’silent birth’.

According to the teachings of the Church of Scientology, pregnant women are encouraged to give birth silently, as Scientologists believe a baby can be traumatized by hearing his or her mother scream or moan during the process of childbirth.

Free SkypeOut dialing hack

with 2 comments

from VoIP Blog

In my recent post on a free 411 directory assistance service I stated that in theory you could use SkypeOut to dial 800-FREE411 and then have 800-FREE411 connect your call free of charge, but you’d still use up your SkypeOut minutes. I wrote:

Too bad Skype doesn’t charge less per minute for (toll free) 800 numbers - if they did then you could save money by always dialing though Free411.com’s service. Of course, that wouldn’t be very nice to Free411.com since they pay for the call. (when you dial their 800 number and they connect the call)

I thought about checking Skype’s website to see if they did indeed discount 800 numbers, but I was too busy to check and I figured one of my blog readers would “catch me” if I was wrong. Well, Rick Hultz, a prolific commenter on my blog, did just that.

Almost done…..

without comments

Just today and tomorrow left,
then 2 glorious days off….

Hope that something can be done to
get the the IBM T42 I was working on
to get the network apps loaded on it…

I’m on the train, sitting next to
Someone who has decided to share their
music (and I use the term loosely)
with everyone in the car.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a FM transmitter
with me, otherwise these clue-deficient
posse would be treated to a much different
Serenade…..

Feeling better, project start…

without comments

Got medicine - feel better.

Starting a project where I evaluate
my customer interactions by rating customers
in any of 4 groups (according to my reactions):

Helpless
Intelligent
Theif-like (win-lose)
Stupid (willfully ignorant)

Strangely enough, my ratings
Are almost evenly allocated between
Harmless and Intelligent,
With a few Harmless/Stupid
And only 2 outright Stupid

That tells me that I may be mispercieving
Helpless responses as Stupid,
Overemphasising the truly Stupid,
And ignoring the Intelligent transactions….
